“Stand Against Racism”

Since the killings of two unarmed African-American men and an African-American child playing with a toy pistol, the ugly face of racism in America has been unmasked. Our UCC President Rev. Geoffrey Black is calling on us to build”…God’s beloved community beyond racial divides.” As Rev. David Beebe and Rev. Healan Gaston pointed out to us, Pilgrim is built upon the foundation of social justice. The Martin Luther King activities in Chattanooga are an opportunities for us to show that we support our African-American neighbors in their continued struggle for equality.

On Monday, January19 at 4PM, there is a march from Miller Park to Olivet Missionary Baptist for a memorial service to follow at 5pm. Any Pilgrim, who can walk 5 blocks, is encouraged to attend and wear a red Pilgrim shirt to identify our presence and support for our African-American neighbors.  We will meet at the church at 2:30pm.  Please sign up on the narthex literature table.

UCC minister Jeremiah Wright is slated to conduct a prayer breakfast at Greater Tucker Missionary Baptist on Saturday, January 17.
