Ponderings of a Pilgrim Pastor

“My Pastoral Journey”
Since I entered Colgate Rochester Divinity School in 1960, I have had the privilege of serving these churches . . .
The Pittsford (N.Y.) United Church
Grace United Methodist Church in Rochester, N.Y.
Wesley United Methodist Church in Niagara Falls, N.Y.
Geneseo (N.Y.) United Methodist Church
Jackson (Mich.) United Methodist Church
]The Community Church of East Williston, N.Y.
Closter United Church of Christ (N.J.)
Congregational Church, U.C.C. of San Mateo, CA.
Community Church U.C.C. of Sun City Center, FL.
Jacksonville (FL.) United Church of Christ as Interim
Rockledge (FL.) United Church of Christ as Interim
Dubbs Memorial United Church of Christ, Allentown, PA.
Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ
I have offered at least 2000 sermons and also been a guest preacher in several dozen churches in different parts of the country as well as performing many baptism, marriages and funerals. I have taught hundreds of hours of classes and performed hundreds of hours of pastoral counseling.
As different as all these churches were, I can still visualize all the buildings and the communities where they were located. I also remember and can see in my mind’s eye hundreds of church members, some from each church. Most of them were saints; a few of them were rascals.
As I come to the end of my pastoral journey I am deeply grateful to have concluded my travels here at Pilgrim. You will always be to Barbara and me, sweet in our memory.
Love,
Dave
